Juice Detox- The Plan
Ok- so Yodit, my Beautiful African Queen and I did some research online and decided that we would embark upon the grand adventure of a 10 day Juice Detox! We looked up some articles, blogs and books to find out how to Juice and survive doing it. We’ve selected two green juices for every two days, are drinking a selection of teas including regular green tea and mulberry magic with nothing added, smoothies with a spinach base as well as almond milk based smoothies for some nutty protein to keep us going. And of course H2O to boot. If breath is life so is Water! NO Coffee, NO meat, NO dairy, NO grain, NO processed foods. All organic ingredients as much as possible.
So the Big questions Why? Why? Why? Why?
To Challenge ourselves.
To Learn more about our boundaries and ourselves.
To feel amazing!
To learn something new!
To experience something different, life is too short, do a Juice Detox! LOL :D
In short, Spring is a time of bringing in the new and cleaning out the old. You Spring clean your home, why not Spring clean your body? And so were taking the plunge! Spring cleanin’ our bodies, minds and spirits.
So yes we are physical bodies, in a physical world but we have this thing called a mind, and this thing called a spirit and these elements of our existence also require a little love and purification from time to time. So this is not just a physical challenge but a mental and spiritual one as well. Meditation and Yoga are an essential element of our adventure! This Detox is a way to dive deeper into our practice, to understand the underlying currents of our minds, and to take the time to gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and what’s going on inside.
The chaos and busyness of our everyday lives can at times be overwhelming and crazy! We are choosing to step out for a bit, to take a little vacay from the everyday. To retreat into ourselves and see what the hell happens. I am not really sure what to expect, it could be tremendously liberating, torturous, uplifting or just plain brutal… who knows it could be all of these things mashed up into one pretty sweet story.
I for one feel ready to see what I’m made of! Maybe I’ll crack tomorrow… (it’s day 1) and eat a whole chocolate banana pie or maybe I’ll stick with it and discover that this is just the beginning of a powerful way to check in with myself and set myself straight. We shall see, but I’m ready and I say bring on the Green Juices! Booya.
Juice Detox Day One
I’ve just finished my first glass of the “Excellent Craving Response” Green Juice. It contains Kale, Leeks, Lime, Tomato, Cilantro, Carrots and Ginger. I Substituted lemon for lime. Please note all Juice Recipes are from www.proflificliving.com Farnoosh is awesome for posting all her juicy goodness info and recipes. Check out her site for more details.
Taste: It’s got some Zang, it was tough to juice the Leeks, my Breville juicer choked a bit and needed a break, I learned to cut up the Leeks in small pieces so as to not trip my juicing master out! Back to the taste: not sweet, full bodied, earthy, rich in flavour, sort of reminds me of a Bloody Ceasar but not really, ha ha, the lemon was key gives it a tangy, zangy yumminess . All in all not too shabby, go vegetables!
It’ll be interesting to see how this all unfolds, my schedule is quite active, between Yoga and Zumba classes I might need quite a bit of Green Juice to keep me going! Off to teach. To be cont.
Taught Zumba, energy levels were good! Class was super fly, bouncing around, bustin moves. Just downed a Spinach, banana, orange smoothie and had a craving for some rice. The key is to stay busy!
This afternoon’s juice “Exquisite Green Goddess” Kale, Romaine Lettuce, Beets, Cilantro, Lemon, Spinach and Apples! Yumm. Overall Day 1, experiencing some desires to eat regularly, but feelin super good about this commitment to purify and clean my pipes from top to bottom. We’ll see what happens tomorrow. Stay tuned!
